Palm Beach County’s only prom for dogs recently raised more than $10,000 for the Drug Abuse Treatment Association.
Pooch Prom 2013, at Downtown at the Gardens, left the entire outdoor plaza of the restaurant and retail center awash in tuxedoes, gowns, tulle, rhinestones, bow-ties and dogs. Tongues were wagging when three precious pooches showed up in a custom-made, rhinestone-studded car complete with two flat-screen TVs.
Close to 60 dogs and more than 160 human companions enjoyed the event that benefited DATA. Before the night was over, two special puppies were crowned king and queen. Among the activities along “The Boulevard” at Downtown at the Gardens were contests for Cutest Couple, Most Athletic, Most Likely To Succeed, Best Dressed, Best Spirited, Most Talented and Smartest Dog. Dogs also enjoyed “Kibbles and Nibbles,” a live auction and door prizes.
The funds raised will benefit DATA and its intervention and prevention programs, and its treatment facilities serving children, teens and their families in Palm Beach, Martin, St. Lucie, Indian River and Okeechobee counties.
