Say Goodbye to Loggerhead Caretta During Bon Voyage Party

April 30, 2013

Caretta's release into the wild will be celebrated May 4, 2013, at a Bon Voyage Party.

On May 4, the public is invited to bid adieu to one of John D. MacArthur Beach State Park’s most beloved residents: Caretta the loggerhead sea turtle.

From 10 a.m. to noon, the park’s staff members, visitors and volunteers will gather for an official Bon Voyage Party for Caretta that will include a turtle-education experience for the family. The program will feature the Sea Turtle Story, the Turtle Hurdles Game and a screening of The Incredible Journey, a movie about the life of a loggerhead sea turtle produced by Sea World. Refreshments will be served.

Caretta, a 30-pound female who has lived at the park in North Palm Beach, Fla., for nearly four years, will be released later in the month near the Sebastian Inlet in Indian River County.
