Well-heeled women set a stylish tone for a fundraiser at a chic Palm Beach Gardens clothing store that benefited Dress for Success, a nonprofit organization providing interview-appropriate clothing and job-skills training to the needy. Guests at the annual summer party at Bamboo Clothiers in PGA Commons each brought an outfit from their closet to donate to the cause.
Ruth Guerra, owner of Bamboo Clothiers, greeted everyone with a glass of sangria as store employees neatly hung up the donated couture. Meredith Vaccarello, a volunteer for Dress for Success, attended the event with several of the agency’s clients.
Dress for Success aids women referred by domestic-abuse and homeless shelters who want to re-enter the workforce. Each woman is provided with an outfit – including shoes and accessories -- when she secures a job interview.
“Buying a suit is expensive, and that’s half the battle,” Vaccarello said.
The agency also provides a weekly career-development training program led by local business professionals.
Cindy Ross has taken advantage of the Wednesday-night sessions for almost two months. Ross is recovering from a debilitating car accident
“I’ve got my resume all ready, and I’m out there looking,” she said.
