Members representing women’s clubs throughout Florida attend the General Federation Women’s Club International Convention in Milwaukee.

Palm Beach Gardens Woman’s Club member Jo Paladini recently attended the five-day General Federation Women’s Club International Convention in Milwaukee.

Paladini was one of 645 women in attendance from each of the 50 states, Washington D.C., Aruba, the Bahamas, the Philippines and Taiwan. She brought back some statistics about the federation and presented them during a meeting of the Palm Beach Gardens club.

In 2010, the federation raised $46.8 million, worked on 136,000 projects and donated 5.3 million volunteer hours, Paladini reported. A total of 100,000 members belong to the federation.

She said she attended all the business sessions, as well as the banquet event, where three speakers addressed the issue of domestic violence.

“I was very proud of GFWC Florida and so glad that I was able to attend,” Paladini said. “There is nothing like a convention to inspire you and make you realize that what we do makes a difference.”
