The sun shined through the skylights at the spacious grand court of The Gardens Mall, illuminating the white wedding gowns worn by models in the Happily Ever After Bridal Event fashion show benefiting Little Smiles.
Guests paid $10 per ticket – or $50 for up-front table seating, to see Miss Miami, Miss Venezuela and three other models show off sensational dresses from Bacio-Bacio. One dress resembled the sleek, satin dress worn by Pippa Middleton, with an added shrug. Another dress, an off-white number, sparkled with sequins. One of the grand-finale dresses was a strapless design with piles and piles of ruffles.
Proceeds will help Little Smiles, a local charity that provides children in hospitals, hospices and shelters with toys and games, celebrity meet-and-greets, tickets to sporting event and theme parks, and pizza parties.
“Everything we do is local, immediate and hands-on,” said Raina Ruelle, executive director of the charity. “We help any child who has lost the ability to be a child.”
The sold-out event featured an afternoon of in-store promotions at Tiffany's, William Sonoma, Hamilton Jewelers, Papyrus, Pottery Barn, Swarovski and other retailers. Cocktails were served, hors d’oeuvres were passed and music flowed.
Prizes included a $1,000 shopping spree at the mall, a Caribbean vacation, a $500 gift certificate to Hamilton Jewelers, a PGA National Resort & Spa Package, and a stay at the Singer Island Resort & Spa.
