St. Mark’s Episcopal Church and School in Palm Beach Gardens has named Russell “Rusty” Smith the new athletic and recreation director.

Smith will manage the school's soon-to-be-completed Youth Center & Gymnasium.

“Rusty’s educational background and professional experience equip him to lead this effort and to optimize our opportunities to serve our students, as well as the community at large,” Head of School Kay Carnes said.

A graduate of Palm Beach Atlantic University with a bachelor's degree in physical education, Smith earned a master’s degree in sports management and also is pursuing a master's degree in education administration.

“St. Mark’s new facility will add a new dimension to the sports program in hosting athletic tournaments and sports camps, as well as providing a venue for church missions, ministry and outreach,” he said.
