The rain fell and the humidity soared, but the breezeway at Store Self Storage and Wine Storage in Palm Beach Gardens provided the perfect place for the debut of north county’s first summer green market.
More than 30 vendors set up shop under the covered area at the upscale storage facility and offered eager customers an array of items: pickles, paella and pastries; candles, cupcakes and corn on the cob; artwork, handmade crafts and recycled accessories; and much more.
Those at the Joy of Garlic table savored the scent of the strong-smelling bulb and as they enjoyed samples of dips and spreads. Sweet-tooths sucked on tony straws filled with saw palmetto, orange blossom, wildflower and tupelo honey. A bikini booth, silk-flower displays and children’s clothing rounded out the fun – and free -- event.
The green market debuted July 9 and will run from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. each Saturday through July.
“Ever since the dog days of summer arrived, all the local green markets in the Palm Beaches have disappeared,” said Enid Atwater, a spokeswoman for the storage facility. “Until now!”
