Florida Atlantic University in Jupiter will have a Sept. 11 remembrance-day event at its Jupiter campus.
The event on the 10th anniversary of the tragedy will give students, faculty members, staffers and the community an opportunity to come together, share experiences and express feelings of hope and strength.
“Many of us can recall the exact moment we learned our country had been attacked, and we still feel the emotion of that experience like it was yesterday,” said Charles Brown, senior vice president of student affairs at FAU. “Remembrance events like we are hosting at FAU can be a positive, healing moment for participants.”
The 10th Anniversary Commemoration of Patriot Day will take place at 6 p.m. at FAU’s John D. MacArthur campus, 5353 Parkside Dr. Those who have served in the U.S. military since 9/11 are welcome to participate. Event highlights include an overview from an FAU professor about the history of Patriot Day, speaker stories, a candlelight vigil and a moment of silence.
