The setting sun glistening off the waterway in North Palm Beach greeted guests at the Blue Friends Society’s summer social.
The venue: an upstairs banquet room at Season 52.
Nearly 100 guests attended the event and raised $1,871 for the support group of the Loggerhead Marinelife Center in Juno Beach. Its mission is to promote the conservation of Florida’s coastal ecosystems, with a focus on threatened and endangered sea turtles.
Lynne Wells, chairwoman of the Blue Friends Society, gave the group some uplifting news about the sea-turtle population during the mixer. Wells said 3,952 loggerhead nests, 483 green nests and 249 leatherback nests have been reported on the beaches near the center. All the numbers set records, and the season runs through October.
At the social, guests sipped cocktails and snacked on an assortment of flatbreads and other summer-themed hors d'oeuvres from the restaurant’s seasonal menu. Raffle prizes included a Gretchen Scott Tunic, a sea-turtle print, a starfish necklace, a sea-turtle adoption package and gift cards.
